Over the weekend, the awards from the latest window of the Community Ownership Fund (COF) were announced. The fund, which was set up by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, helps community groups to take control of buildings at risk of being lost and bring them back to life for the benefit of local people.
In total, 83 projects received COF funding in this batch of grants, 10 of which have also benefited from the Architectural Heritage Fund’s (AHF) early-stage advice and support. Additionally, through the Community Ownership Fund delivery partnership, the AHF provided consultancy support to Signal Film and Media for a project to secure the future of Cooke’s Studios in Barrow-in-Furness, which was also successful in this window.
