Mustard Seed Property, a Community Benefit Society working in Cornwall, is one step closer to creating independent, supported living for adults with learning disabilities. The organisation has been awarded £50,000 through the Community Shares Booster Programme to match its community share offer, which will help to refurbish a property in Redruth and purchase a further property in the area. This builds on Mustard Seed Property’s previous success of converting a former Bed and Breakfast into residential space, and will bring an historic building in Redruth’s town centre back into use.
The Community Shares Booster is part of the Architectural Heritage Fund’s Transforming Places Through Heritage Programme. Managed by programme partner Co-operatives UK, the grant is designed to support Community Benefit Societies and Co-operatives to boost the amount of investment they raise from their supporters. This could either be through a development grant of up to £10,000 to develop community share offers or equity investments of up to £50,000 to match the amount raised in Community Shares investment.
