What’s it like on the frontline of heritage? New UK Heritage Pulse survey is seeking feedback from across the sector

16 August 2022
UK

The National Lottery Heritage Fund has launched its second UK Heritage Pulse survey. It’s open to give everyone in the UK heritage sector the chance to raise their voice, share their knowledge and experience, and shape the future of heritage.

UK Heritage Pulse is a collaborative and responsive research project, bringing together views and knowledge from across the heritage sector. The insights you share influence how both the Heritage Fund and its partners support UK heritage.

The survey questions have been designed in response to what the sector says is currently most important: organisational resilience, environmental sustainability, recruitment and staffing.

Tom Walters, Head of Research, Data and Insight at The National Lottery Heritage Fund, said:

“There is nothing more valuable than the first-hand experience and views of people working at the frontline of the sector to help us understand what it needs and how we should direct our funding and our advocacy.

“The information individuals and organisations share will help shape our priorities and funding approaches, including feeding into our ambitious new 10-year strategy.”

The UK Heritage Pulse survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and is open until Friday 9 September. Visit the survey site to register and help to make sure all views are heard from across the incredible diversity of UK heritage.

Further information:

  • The National Lottery Heritage Fund is calling for new panellists to join as members. In particular it wants to hear from people in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland and those working in intangible heritage, industrial, maritime and transport.
  • In return for completing the survey, panellists will be the first to hear about the results in a special panel members’ webinar on Tuesday 4 October.
  • Created by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2021 and delivered in collaboration with heritage organisations across the UK, UK Heritage Pulse has signed-up a panel of over 700 registered participants who contribute to regular research, receiving insight and data in return. The panel has grown by 25% since the first survey.
  • The information you share will help shape the Heritage Fund’s priorities and funding approaches, including feeding into its ambitious new 10-year survey strategy.
