The AHF appreciates that neglected buildings which are all too familiar in our towns, cities and countryside can, with a little imagination and a lot of enthusiasm, be rescued to become assets for their communities by people wanting to make a difference. The AHF has helped hundreds of organisations throughout the UK to do exactly that.

Cywaith Legacy Fund: Architectural Heritage Fund grants in north-west Wales

Since its establishment by the Snowdonia National Park in 1990, Cywaith: Gwynedd Buildings Preservation Trust’s mission was to bring historic buildings in Gwynedd back into use. They continued with their endeavours until December 2016 when the Trustees decided to cease activities because of the difficulties in acquiring suitable properties at a viable cost to enable their conservation. The Trust chose the Architectural Heritage Fund to be the recipient of their remaining assets to carry on with this important work. In response, we are proud to launch the Cywaith Legacy Fund.

This fund is open to community-led organisations operating Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy to find sustainable new uses for historic buildings. Ideally the building is listed and / or located in a conservation area. It may also be on an ‘at risk’ register. We encourage community ownership of heritage assets and the growth of community businesses. We will prioritise projects which have the potential to make a significant social impact.

Matthew McKeague, Chief Executive of the Architectural Heritage Fund said, “We are grateful to Cywaith: Gwynedd Buildings Preservation Trust for leaving this legacy. This will enable us to carry on their mission of helping to bring historic buildings in Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy back into use. We look forward to receiving proposals that will not only regenerate a historic building but will also demonstrate a wider benefit for the area and its people.

We can provide grant support to explore an historic building’s future uses Project Viability grants (up to £5,000) and Project Development grants (up to £25,000) are available. Grants can fund initial investigations such as viability (options) appraisals and early stage project development costs but not capital costs.

If you would like to find out more information or discuss a project proposal, please contact Adam Hitchings the Architectural Heritage Fund’s Wales Support Officer on 0300 121 0718 or adam.hitchings@ahfund.org.uk

Cronfa Gwaddol Cywaith: grantiau'r Gronfa Treftadaeth Bensaernïol yng ngogledd orllewin Cymru

Cenhadaeth Cywaith: Ymddiriedolaeth Cadwraeth Adeiladau Gwynedd oedd dod ag adeiladau hanesyddol yn ôl i’w defnydd ers iddi gael ei sefydlu gan y Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri ym 1990. Gwnaethon nhw barhau gyda’u hymdrechion hyd at fis Rhagfyr 2016 pan wnaeth Ymddiriedolwyr benderfyniad anodd i roi gorau i’w gweithgareddau oherwydd anawsterau cael gafael ar eiddo addas am bris rhesymol er mwyn galluogi eu gwarchod. Dewisodd yr Ymddiriedolaeth y Gronfa Treftadaeth Bensaernïol i dderbyn gweddill eu hasedau i barhau’r gwaith pwysig hwn. Mewn ymateb rydym yn falch i lansio’r Gronfa Gwaddol Cywaith.

Mae’r gronfa hon ar agor i gyrff cymunedol dielw sy’n gweithio yng Ngwynedd, Ynys Môn a Chonwy i ddod o hyd i ddefnyddiau newydd a chynhaliol ar gyfer adeiladau hanesyddol. Yn ddelfrydol mae’r adeilad yn rhestredig a / neu lleolir mewn ardal cadwraeth. Efallai bod yr adeilad hefyd ar restr ‘mewn perygl’. Rydym yn annog cymunedau cael perchen ar asedau treftadaeth a thwf o fusnesau cymunedol. Byddwn yn rhoi blaenoriaeth i brosiectau sydd â photensial i wneud effaith gymdeithasol sylweddol.

Meddai Matthew McKeague, Prif Weithredwr y Gronfa Treftadaeth Bensaernïol, "Rydym yn ddiolchgar i Gywaith: Ymddiriedolaeth Cadwraeth Adeiladau Gwynedd am adael y gwaddol hwn. Bydd hyn yn ein galluogi i barhau gyda’u cenhadaeth o helpu i ddod ag adeiladau hanesyddol yng Ngwynedd, Ynys Môn a Chonwy yn ôl i’w defnydd. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at dderbyn cynigion a fydd nid yn unig yn adfywio adeilad hanesyddol ond bydd hefyd yn dangos budd ehangach ar gyfer yr ardal a'r bobl."

Rydym yn gallu rhoi grantiau i ymchwilio defnyddiau newydd o adeilad. Mae grantiau prosiect hyfyw (hyd at £5,000) a grantiau datblygu prosiect (hyd at £25,000) ar gael. Gall grantiau ariannu gwaith ymchwil cychwynnol fel asesiad o hyfywedd (opsiynau) a chamau cynnar o gostau datblygu prosiect ond nid costau cyfalaf.
