The AHF appreciates that neglected buildings which are all too familiar in our towns, cities and countryside can, with a little imagination and a lot of enthusiasm, be rescued to become assets for their communities by people wanting to make a difference. The AHF has helped hundreds of organisations throughout the UK to do exactly that.

Congratulations to Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust and Birmingham Conservation Trust, Heritage Angel award winners! The AHF is delighted that the efforts of two of its long-standing clients were recognised at a ceremony hosted by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Dr Bettany Hughes at London’s Palace Theatre on 7th September. In a competitive field, Tyne & Wear BPT won the category of ‘Best Rescue of a Historic Industrial Building or Site’ for Blackfell Hauler House on the Bowes Railway. Sheffield’s Portland Works, another AHF beneficiary, was also shortlisted under this category. Birmingham Conservation Trust’s Coffin Works was voted the favourite project overall by Historic England followers and Daily Telegraph readers. Many congratulations to the winners and to all the shortlisted projects.
