New Bill for heritage protection in Wales introduced

Architectural Heritage Fund

A new Bill designed to increase protection for nationally important heritage sites has been laid before the Welsh National Assembly today. The Architectural Heritage Fund welcomes this first Wales-only legislation for the care and protection of the country’s distinct historic environment. The Bill seeks to strengthen the protection of ancient monuments and to introduce additional powers for local authorities to take action and halt the decay of significant historic buildings across Wales.
