The AHF appreciates that neglected buildings which are all too familiar in our towns, cities and countryside can, with a little imagination and a lot of enthusiasm, be rescued to become assets for their communities by people wanting to make a difference. The AHF has helped hundreds of organisations throughout the UK to do exactly that.

Loans & Social Investment

Loans & Social Investment

Through our Heritage Projects Fund, the AHF provides loan facilities to eligible charities and other not-for-profit organisations, either for the acquisition of a building, or to provide working capital throughout a restoration project. Loans usually require some form of security, either a first legal charge or a repayment guarantee from a local authority; the long-term viability of any project or enterprise is crucial to us when considering an application.

Our terms are flexible, interest rates vary and the length of loan period can be up to 5 years. An arrangement fee may apply, though each application is considered individually on its merits, with full assistance given during the application process and beyond.

Expressions of interest in our loan programmes are welcome as the AHF’s ability to lend depends on its funding position at any one time.

Through our Community Heritage Support Fund we are also able to offer supportive social investment into enterprises which benefit from the UK’s architectural heritage and consequently seek to improve the lives of people in our communities.

Find out more about our eligibility and funding priorities before you start an application for investment funding.

We are absolutely delighted with the way things have worked out at the Pier - thanks for all your help with this over the years. I still think back to our first meeting in the downpour in Bristol, and the first ever discussion of Community Share. So much has happened since, and the money we’ve raised is fantastic. One of our trustees has also now become something of an expert in these matters!
